Biodynamic, plowing with horses, hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentation, long maceration and no SO2. A good friend of Patrick Desplats &amp; S\u00e9bastien Dervieux at Domaine Griottes, Olivier follows basically the same methods (or lack of).\u00a0 Domaine Cousin-Leduc is in Martign\u00e9-Briand which lies in the Anjou appellation of The Loire Valley (see map). Although The Loire Valley&#8217;s white wines reach a broader audience (think Sancerre), the reds are my favorite.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/vinosseur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/2010-05-23_1486.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-2832\" title=\"2010-05-23_1486\" src=\"http:\/\/vinosseur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/2010-05-23_1486-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/vinosseur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/2010-05-23_1482.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2833\" title=\"2010-05-23_1482\" src=\"http:\/\/vinosseur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/2010-05-23_1482-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Date tasted: <\/strong> May 23, 2010 decanted at 1800\u00a0 (I chose to decant this wine because the last time I tasted it about 6 months ago, initial aromas were dominated by oak and they took a few hours to burn off)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/vinosseur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/2010-05-23_1490.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-2836\" title=\"2010-05-23_1490\" src=\"http:\/\/vinosseur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/2010-05-23_1490-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/><\/a>Appearance:<\/strong> Dark cherry red. Not much development showing if any at all.\u00a0 Clear<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Nose:<\/strong> Sponty, floral (light rose pedals), dark plums, blueberry juice with hint of raspberry and other red fruits. Not much development (I have not tasted a younger version of this wine, so there may be some development from that point of view)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Palate:<\/strong> Quite salty (&amp; mineral) on the initial impression followed by under ripe cherries.\u00a0 Very structured wine withdark fruit and hints of red fruit. Very light and fresh. Hints of leather and oak (just hints) and a slight bitterness on the finish.\u00a0 Slight green notes (but not under ripe). Medium, ripe and juicy acidity and medium tannins.\u00a0 Not much development on the palate either.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/vinosseur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/2010-05-23_1489.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2835\" title=\"2010-05-23_1489\" src=\"http:\/\/vinosseur.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/2010-05-23_1489-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As we consumed the bottle, the salty, mineral notes stayed with the wine which I considered a positive characteristic of the wine and enjoyed it very much.<\/p>\n<p>I last tasted this wine in November of 2009 and remembered the oak being a bit more dominant (although judicial by most standards).
